Aryana Minai

Two Squares is a risograph print of the works untitled (2022) by Aryana Minai for the third issue of Close Distance. For the visual presentation of the journal at Maple Street Construct in Omaha, Lara Schoorl took the shape of a square as a sun, and as such the origin of color, a reference to Etel Adnan, as a curatorial starting point. Minai’s untitled (2022) were located at the residency accommodation of Maple Street Construct, and the coincidence of Lara encountering these two squares upon arrival as well as the influence of Etel Adnan on Minai’s earlier work made them an anchor for the exhibition and their following risograph translation a bridge between the exhibition and the publication.
