One year has passed since Close Distance began its monthly diary editorial August 30. Seven diaries further––and one on the way––it perhaps developed more slowly than planned but the depth of content shared by each contributor has been truly generous beyond imagination. The project grew out of a desire to find community in the language and imagery of personal narratives when certain (infra)structures manipulate genuine connectivity in our day to day life. Simultaneously, its format was thought of as a way to continue to publish more regularly when saving up money for Close Distance’s journal took more and more time.
I am therefore thrilled to share that Close Distance was selected as a project of Fulcrum Art’s Emerge Program, which will allow me to raise funds under their extended fiscal sponsorship and guidance. While no changes will be made to Close Distance’s current program, I anticipate that this fiscal sponsorship allows me to secure necessary financial support through grants and donations in order to continue Close Distance’s current program with less intervals and expand on the publication of printed matter. More on that later.
For now, and for those so inclined, I am sharing a donation button at the bottom of this page. All funds that Close Distance receives through the button will go to fees paid out to writers, designers and (web)editors as well as materials and general operations.
Donations in support of Close Distance are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law under Federal ID 95-2540759. Please let me know if you have any questions about tax deductibility or require related documents.
